Other blogs that I like and have commented on

Summary

I want to take a minute to kind of review and summarize everything that I have been talking about on this blog. My main idea is to make affordable stylish pocket squares. Pocket Squares are normally premium items, so the idea of a small company making affordable pocket squares is honestly in itself quite revolutionary.

When you combine our great idea here at Pocket Squared with our technological prowess we are miles ahead of the competition. We will be using social media in innovative and effective ways. We will obviously be using multiple platforms and be very diligent to stay ahead of the curve. When it comes to computing, knowing what we know, we will be able to find the perfect balance between having what we need and being thrifty to find the peak of cost effectiveness. With the our knowledge on technological security, we are a smart investment for people to make. With our knowledge of RFID, our stockhouse can be extremely efficient as well.

I am proud of all we have come up with so far and excited to see what will happen in the future.

Review of Image Granted Blog

I decided that this week I wanted to review another blog, so I chose "Image Granted" which is run by Grant Harris. Grant Harris wears many hats in both senses of the phrase. He is an image consultant, personal shopper, and blogger. He works for several different companies that all pay him to tell them what is stylish.

At his blog he, one-at-a-time, breaks down either a designer, a company, or simply a product and gives his review of it. He tells you about the stylishness of it, but also the value of it also. He understands the kinds of budgets that many people have these days and so he pays attention to price also.

Because he works so hard on his blog, he ends up with a stylish and loyal group of men that religiously read his posts. I would like to think that I am one of those too. With the growth of his blog he has decided to attach an Image Granted shop to the site also. There he sells small accessories mostly, cufflinks, ties, etc. If you too strive to be a stylish man check out imagebranted.blogspot.com

Operating Systems

Picking the right operating systems based for my computers is probably going to be a relatively easy task. One of the most important things, I think, when looking at operating systems for my employees, is taking a look at what they are already familiar with. If there are people doing design, I would say chances are that they are more familiar with Mac OS. If there are people doing finance or administration, I would say chances are they are familiar with Windows.

My choices for OSs (probably not how you are supposed to pluralize that abbreviation) will be Mac OS for anyone designing pocket squares or designing other design related items like packaging. When it comes to everyone else, I will provide them with Windows.

That's all for now gang,

Hey gang. This week I wanted to talk to you again about being efficient. This time I want to talk to you though about quality when it comes to pictures and quality when it comes to audio. As a clothing company the quality of our pictures will obviously be very important.

This week I've learned about how the quality of a picture can effect the amount of data used. Understanding the data space = more money that the company has to spend, we will be mindful when making decisions about the picture type that we use. As a clothing type company how our pocket squares look are very important; we will have to hire photographers who really know what they are doing.  Knowing the right picture types and sizes will help us to be even more efficient.

When it comes to audio you would think that it would be irrelevant to our company, but it isn't that simple. Here at Pocket Squared we have tossed around the idea of doing men's fashion podcasts. If we want more men to wear pocket squares we need more men to wear jackets/blazers/sportcoats. On our podcasts we can promote dressing nicer.  In order to be efficient in our podcasts we need to also pay attention to what types of audio recordings we are using. Using wavs instead of mp3s can cost us more space and remember space = money we have to spend. Making smart decisions in these areas can help us to be more cost effective.

That's all for now,

Drew

Input/Output

I want to take a quick minute on the blog to talk about one cool piece of technology that we will be using over at Pocket Squared that will really help us out a lot. I'm talking about RFID. If you don't know what that means, it is Radio Frequency Identification. I am actually a radio jock myself, and if you are involved in radio also than Radio Frequency Identification is a very different thing.

The RFID that I'm talking about is a small tag, I mean TINY, that replaces all the bar codes that we might have had on our products. There are many advantages to using RFID over bar codes. One example is that when doing inventory we wouldn't need to scan each product one at a time, all we would have to do it wave the scanner near by and we would know everything that was there. This evidences not just the lack of a line of sight requirement for the RFID, but also that it can scan a multitude of items at the same time.

At Pocket Squared we love staying ahead of the curve when it comes to our technology. RFID does have a bad reputation right now, but as long as we are still only an online store, some of the public's hesitations will be taken care of. People are worried about incorrect readings of RFID tags at the checkout line. Some people are worried about the lack of knowledge that we have about RFID because its still a developing technology. The good thing though is that Pocket Squared will only be using RFID tags in the place where we store the products, it will be a contained area that will allow us to careful monitor its use.

Thats all for now gang,

Drew
