Week 3 Hardware and Security

Knowing what hardware we need for the company and providing just enough is essential to running the operation correctly. First there must be careful consideration put into what exactly is needed and then we must find the point where we have just enough to run at full capacity, but not overdoing it so that we are taking capital out of production of the actual product.

Our employees will be doing a range of different tasks and as a result they will need different amount of computing power. The designers of the actual pocket squares will need a fair amount of computing power because they will be designing squares using different visual editing softwares. As a result they will get a fair amount of RAM and lots of hard drive space so that they can run their programs and save large amount of designs. For the person doing our web design and social media he will need some, but probably less computing power. This will be taken into consideration when it comes to his computer also.

When it comes to security for the company we will make sure that we protect ourselves from people who are just generally looking to disrupt the company, but also those who are looking to steal our product designs. There are going to be people who want to steal our designs or at least leak them before they are released. As a result we will likely hire an outside firm to help us secure our computers.

  2. Good post -- you're right with regards to the importance of thinking about how much hardware, with what particular requirements, is necessary for a business to succeed. Businesses often perform an assessment of some type to see what is needed and what is not.

You're also correct about security. Your designs will be critical to your business. It would be important for your company to protect your prototype designs before they are released.

How do others in fashion protect their products being developed? Would it make sense for you company to do similar things?
